The race for the 2018/19 Kenyan Premier League title took yet another dimension after Gor Mahia reclaimed the log.

In a competitive race that left all the top three teams tied on 45 points, K’Ogalo missed a chance to open a three- point lead at the summit.

Allan Wanga made his intention to claim the Golden Boot with a late equaliser deep in the stoppage time to earn Kakamega Homeboyz a 1-1 draw at the Bukhungu Stadium on Friday.

Nicholas Kipkirui had given K’Ogalo the lead late in the first half, but Wanga ensured that his side walked away with at least a point in a dominant second half performance after the former AFC Leopards and Tusker striker grabbed his 13th goal of the season.

K’Ogalo, though still have four games in hand, the two points dropped will give Sofapaka and Bandari some hopes of catching up with the leaders, if they drop more points in the next couple of matches.

Homeboyz, who have gone for seven game undefeated, are seven points behind them on fourth place with 38 points.

Former Tusker Captain Hashim Sempala, who joined the record Kenyan champions from Ruaraka made his debut in the draw, but he will have to wait until the weekend to try and pick a win with the defending champions.

But Hassan Oktay will have to be sorry about injury  concerns ahead of another crunch tie against Ulinzi Stars on Sunday after Kipkirui and Charles Momanyi limped off the pitch with injuries in the second half.
