Mathare United coach Francis Kimanzi will have more defensive options after the return of Samuel Olwande in the squad.

Olwande trained with the rest of the team on Monday morning for the first time in five months.

The defender, who underwent surgery on his right knee to correct a third degree meniscus tear in October last year, joined the rest of the squad at the Goan Institute for a light recovery session.

“You have to work hard during the therapy sessions even when you feel like giving up because you want to recover in good time,” he told the club portal.

His return will certainly give Kimanzi more options defensively but the utility defender wants to return when fully fit.

“I don’t want to rush then suffer another setback since I have seen it happen to other players with similar injuries. I am targeting the last five games,” he said.

The ‘Slum Boys’ are currently sixth on the log with 35 points as they prepare to face off with Nzoia Sugar.
