Controversial Botswana referee Joshua Bondo will be in charge of Gor Mahia CAF Confederation Cup quarter final first leg match against visiting Moroccan side Barkane at the Kasarani Stadium on Sunday.

Bondo, who is known for controversial decisions, will be returning to the big scene after he was suspended from Cosafa games in 2018 for denying Zimbabwe two clear penalties against Madagascar.

Bondo however remains one of the top referees in the continent and has handled big matches including Nigeria versus Zambia World Cup qualifier last year and a game against Kenya versus Ghana where he also denied the Black Stars what looked like a clear penalty.

Gor Mahia will miss the services of four dependable players including Captain Harun Shakava, Jacques Tuyisenge, Ernest Wendo anf Ugandan defender Shafik Batambuze.

Coach Hassan Oktay’s has also been suspended for the first leg of the quarter final and will not be eligible to sit on the bench.
