Thibaut Courtois has snubbed a possible move to Manchester United in exchange for David De Gea joining Real Madrid.

Reported talks between the two clubs resulted in a proposal that the Belgium keeper be offered the chance to join United.

Courtois however wants to remain at the Bernabeu after he joined the club from Chelsea last summer.

But, if that is not possible, he would prefer to join Paris Saint-Germain instead over the close season.

Zinedine Zidane dropped the ex-Chelsea stopper for his first game in charge and fielded Keylor Navas in the 2-0 win over Real Betis.

Zidane defended his decision saying it was simply to give Navas an opportunity and did not mean never liked Courtois.

Courtois feels badly treated by the Real fans, who have been highly critical of him since he arrived.

The keeper has born much of the brunt of anger from the fans at the way the side have performed in La Liga and in Europe this season.

He was heavily criticised for his display in the 4-1 defeat to Ajax which saw Real crash out of the Champions League in the last-16 stage.

It has reached the stage where his dad Thierry Courtois has spoken out at what he claims is the victimisation of his son.

Thierry said: “I feel that everyone is targeting Thibaut. The Spanish press, and also the Flemish. As a father, I cannot ignore that.
