Everton FC winger Ademola Lookman is happy to have helped his team to an emphatic 4-0 win over Gor Mahia in the two team’s historic friendly match played on Tuesday 6 November at Everton’s Goodison Park arena in Liverpool England.

The match, the first of its kind for an East African club, saw Everton play host to the Kenyan heavyweights for the chance to win the SportPesa trophy.

Strong squad

Everton manager Marco Silva fielded a strong squad comprising some of the team’s first team players as well as some budding talent from the club’s academy, who were keen to impress and force their way into the first team plans.

Lookman, who was among the goals in the game was happy to get playing time and show his quality especially that The Blues have a cracking league game against Chelsea coming up.

He is quoted on the club’s official portal as saying, “I always say I’m always in competition with myself to always get better and improve and that’s what I keep doing every single day.

Chance to improve

“It is a long season so hopefully opportunities [to play] will arise but when it comes I’ll be ready.

“I’m always looking forward, always looking to improve and that’s what I’m going to keep on doing – to always get better as a player and as a person.

It was good to get minutes in the legs against Gor Mahia and it’s always good to win, so I’m happy. It was important to work hard and show our quality.

“If you get into good habits, they will always stick with you and that’s important.

“We have Chelsea next and we go into every single game to win. As a team we are very confident and that is our objective – to always try to win,” he said.
