Long-serving former Football Kenya Federation Secretary General Hussein Swaleh is among the 157 passengers who perished in the Ethiopian Airline plane crash on Sunday.

Swaleh was in the Boeing-737-800MAX flight that was en-route to Nairobi from Addis Ababa before it crashed Bishoftu (Debre Zeit), six minutes after it left the Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

“Sad day for football. You were doing what you loved most. Fare thee well my chairman. Until we meet again,” FKF president Nick Mwendwa confirmed the devastating news.

Swaleh is reported to have been on his way home having attended the Caf Champions League match between Egyptian side Ismailia and DRC’s TP Mazembe played on Friday in Cairo where he was the match commissioner.

The plane developed mechanical problem six minutes after take- off before before it went down.
