Super 8 Premier League defending champions Jericho All Stars escaped with a narrow 2-1 victory over Githurai All-Stars in the over the weekend.

Kevin Juma scored the decisive winner with five minutes to go as 10-man Jericho All Stars labored to break down a resolute Githurai All Stars.

After a scoreless first half, Kelvin Ndung’u broke the deadlock for the hosts on the 62nd minute but the lead never lasted long as Joe Abongo close-range finish on the 76th minute sparked the visitor’s fans into a frenzy.

After the win, Jericho moves up to third with nine points, one behind leaders Lebanon FC (10 Points).

This is Githurai’s second defeat in a row having won once and drawn the other in their first four games following their promotion in the top flight. They sit 10th with 4 points.

In another match, Makadara Junior League SA wasted numerous chances including a penalty to settle for a point against Kawangware United in a 1-1 draw at the Camp Toyoyo Grounds.

Marvin Wachai made amends for blasting wide from the spot by drilling in a superb volley on the 32 minutes, to cancel out Kevin Agoi’s 13th-minute opener for Kawangware.

Meanwhile, James Okello (68’) fired Lebanon back to the top of the log after scoring the only goal against Mathare Flames at Riruta BP Grounds.

Team Umeme moved to second on the log with nine points following a 2-0 away win over Huruma Kona at Huruma Grounds with Giovani Moses and Makari Joe getting the job done for the Ziwani-based side.
