Japheth Munala announced his return to the continental stage with an emphatic victory after KCB dispatched DSGP of Congo by straight sets victory in the opening match of the CAVB Africa Women’s club championship.

The Bankers led by captain Noel Murambi who crossed camp from former national champions-Kenya Pipeline early this year, beat the Congolese (25-14, 25-14, 25-17) at the Ah Ahly gymnasium on Saturday.

Munala will now head into the second match against Egyptian Sporting before winding up Group B campaign against 2018 losing finalist Carthage of Tunisia.

Murambi scored 15-points high to guide KCB to a flying start even though the bigger task still remains a top podium finish.

Two other Kenyan representatives-Kenya Pipeline will serve off their title campaign against Rwanda Revenue Authority while Prisons will face Asec from Cote d’Ivoire.

Prisons landed in Egypt on Saturday, having left the country Friday evening following a lengthy delay in getting funds from the ministry of interior.
