Gor Mahia head coach Hassan Oktay went hard on his Tusker FC counterpart Robert Matano in a fierce war of words after the Wednesday’s midweek Kenyan Premier League match staged at the Kenyatta Stadium.

Ten-man K’Ogalo forced a slim 1-0 victory over the former champions, but Matano termed Oktay’s victory as “daylight robbery” with the “Lion” accusing match officials of showing leniency to Gor Mahia.

“That was daylight robbery. What kind of goal is that?” said Matano of Nicholas Kipkirui’s 56th header that proved the difference at Kenyatta Stadium.

“We were denied a clear goal. What about the penalty? How do you explain that? The referees should get their calls right,” the “Lion” fumed after his side’s appeal for a penalty in the second half was turned down by the center referee.

Tusker also saw Bill Oporia’s second-half equalizer cancelled even though TV replays showed that there was minimal infringement in the box.

But Oktay, who was meeting Matano for the first time did not take the accusation lightly.

“They (Tusker) got a Christmas gift just a few weeks ago but they could not beat a 10-man team. In fact, they were lucky not to have lost by six goals,” said Oktay.

Tusker are now six points behind leaders Bandari who are on 32 points after 14 games.

K’Ogalo meanwhile went second above Mathare United and just a point behind leaders Bandari FC.
