Michael Olunga scored his third goal in two games as Kashiwa Reysol beat Albirex Niigata 1-0 in the Japanese Division 2 match on Saturday.

The red-hot Harambee Stars striker scored the lone goal in the 73rd minute; his third in two games, having also grabbed a brace in a 2-1 victory over Tokyo FC in the Japanese Cup on Wednesday.

The win saw Reysol move to second in the Japanese second-tier league with nine points. Reysol, who were relegated to the lower division are unbeaten in three games.

Olunga’s new found form comes at a time when the Stars are preparing to face Ghana in a formality Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier on March 23 away in Accra.

Kenya has already booked a place into the 24-nation Afcon finals set to be staged in Egypt from June.

Olunga is among the 24-man squad called by Coach Sebastien Migne for the Black Stars assignment and he is expected to lead the attack in both the Ghana game as well as the Afcon tournament.

Kenya will be returning to the continental showpiece for the first time after 15 years lull.
