Football fans will have to wait a little longer to watch Jose Mourinho back in the game after he turned down managerial job offer by Portuguese giants Benfica.

According to recent reports in Portugal, the former Manchester United manager was contacted by Benfica after the dismissal of Rui Vitoria.

Benfica owners were ready to offer Mourinho the job immediately, but the 55-year-old declined, saying he is not interested in job

Vitoria was sacked last Thursday following a poor spell of results, bringing to an end his three-and-a-half year tenure at Benfica

Mourinho has been out of a job since being fired from Manchester United boss in early December, following a humiliating 3-1 defeat to bitter rivals Liverpool.

He was replaced, on interim basis, by former United player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who has won the last five games in charge.
