Cliff Nyakeya’s 16th minute equaliser denied Tusker a chance to move fifth on the Kenyan Premier League table as they battled to a one all draw with Mathare United on Saturday.

Tusker took the lead in the 14th minute through David Majak, but Nyakeya cancelled out the lead with a quick equaliser two minutes later.

The draw proved costly for either side, more so Mathare United, who could have moved joint second with Sofapaka.

The ‘Slum Boys’ who have played 21 matches, are fourth on the log with 35 points and they are assured of that place until the 22nd  round of matches, having opened a five-point lead with closest challengers, Kariobangi Sharks and Kakamega Homeboyz who both have 40 points. Tusker has 31 points.

The opposite is true for Robert Matano’s Tusker, who might drop further down after the Sunday’s games, should Sharks or Homeboyz beat Bandari and Chemelil Sugar respectively.
