NYSA shocked Makadara Junior 4-1 to get their first win as Team Umeme handed Super 8 defending champions, Jericho, All-Stars their maiden defeat in the third round of the knockout grassroots competition over the weekend.

Umeme beat Jericho with a 1-0 win in the same weekend NYSA hammered pre-match favourites Makadara Junior  at Ngong Posta Grounds on Sunday.

So dominant were NYSA that by halftime they were up by two goals after taking advantage of Makadara Junior who fielded their second string squad.

Peter Ngang’a sent the hosts in front two minutes inside the contest, capitalising on a sloppy mistake from Makadara Junior goalkeeper.

Bob Onyango added the second on the 23rd minute as the home team overwhelmed their opponents with fast counter-attack football that kept fans on the edge throughout the game.

Makadara Junior started the second period much better but a slight concentration lapse at the rear line allowed speedy winger Sam Lemashon to score the third on the 53rd minute much to the amusement of the home supporters.

Joseph Ondiwa pulled a goal back for the visitors on the 65th minute but Fredrick Otieno’s NYSA were not done yet as Onyango completed his brace on the 88th minute to seal the game.

The win shots NYSA to ninth on the log with four points while Makadara Junior remains winless after three rounds and as a result drops to second from bottom.

At Ziwani Grounds, holders Jericho All-Stars were put to the sword by Ken Mboya whose 46th-minute strike was all Umeme needed to get maximum points. Jericho drop to third on the log with six points, one shy of leaders Metro Sports while Umeme climb to 4th also with 6 points.

Meanwhile, Metro Sports shot to the top of the log after a narrow 1-0 win over Shauri Moyo Sportiff at Drive Inn Grounds. Sportiff drop to 5th place with six points after the defeat.
