Real Madrid are set to announce the appointment of Zinedine Zidane today as current manger Santiago Solari faces sack.

The club has decided to part ways with Solari after a meeting between the Real Madrid Board of Directors.

It was reported in the Spanish press that Zidane has always been the preferred choice for president Florentino Perez.

After shock exit from the Copa del Rey and the Champions League, as well as slipping too far behind in LaLiga, Solari’s time at the club is up and as reports emerge  that Zidane will be named the new coach of Los Blancos at 6.00pm CET on Monday.

The Frenchman quit Real Madrid just nine months ago after winning three consecutive Champions League titles.

Santiago Solari has said farewell to everyone at the club on Monday with the announcement of his dismissal thought to be imminent.

The Argentine is well aware that his job is under extreme threat after his side crashed out of the Copa del Rey, Champions League and LaLiga Santander’s title race within the space of a week.

Solari has prepared for the worst by spending the first day of a challenging week saying farewell to his players and other club employees, knowing that a decision could be made as early as Monday afternoon.

The 4-1 win over Real Valladolid on Sunday remains insignificant in the bigger picture, and it seems as though it is a matter of time before Solari is dismissed.
