Red-hot Michael Olunga steered Kashiwa Reysol to a 2-1 win over FC Tokyo in the Japanese League Cup, Group B match, with a second-half brace at the Kashiwa Stadium on Wednesday.

Olunga is among the players summoned up by Coach Sebastien Migne for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ghana later in the month.

The Harambee Stars striker scored two quick goals within a span of three minutes to help Kashiwa move second in the Group behind Vegalta Sendai who beat Sagan Tosu 3-0 in the other match.

The former Gor Mahia striker and 2015 Kenyan Premier League’s Most Valuable Player showed his predatory instincts with a second-half display when he rallied Reysol for a major comeback to help his side grab the three vital points.

Japanese  Tsuyoshi Watanabe gave Tokyo the lead in the 32-minute, but the Kenyan international who moved to Japan from Chinese Super League, cancelled the visitors’ lead in the 65th minute only to double his tally three minutes later.

Kashiwa Reysol were relegated to the second division where they occupy third place from two games.

Olunga is expected to lead the line when Stars faces off with the Black Stars in a formality qualifier away in Accra.
