Sofapaka took the leadership of the Kenyan Premier League on Wednesday thanks to a solitary goal over a struggling AFC Leopards.

John Avire’s goal at the stroke of half time ended Ingwe’s two-match undefeated run as John Baraza side dislodged Bandari who picked their only second defeat of the season against Ulinzi Stars last weekend.

Sofapaka took their points to 31, one above Bandari who are ahead of Mathare United, Kariobangi Sharks and Gor Mahia.

Meanwhile, reigning KPL Player of the Year Erick Kapaito finally broke his duck with the first goal of the season that helped Kariobangi Sharks move joint fourth on points with defending champions Gor Mahia.

Kapaito’s lone strike at the Kasarani Stadium subjected Nzoia Sugar to a second straight defeat.

Kapaito, who scooped the 2018 KPL Golden Boot after scoring 17 goals has been struggling to find the back of the net, thanks to a nagging injury that saw him miss the better part of the first leg.

The win pushed Sharks jointly third on point with who has 29 points, though K’Ogalo has three games at hand.

Elsewhere, visiting Chemelil Sugar beat the host Western Stima 2-0 at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu to move 11th on the log with 20 points, same as Nzoia Sugar.
