Gaming giants SportPesa are set to spread their tentacles to Formula One with reports now emerging that the Kenyan firm is in the process of striking a deal with Racing Point.

The two-year deal, which is understood to be in the region of KES2 billion will see the Formula One Racing Company colours laced with blue and white, the corporate colours of SportPesa.

SportPesa could join current sponsors, BWT associated with the current pink colours with sources indicating that BWT will continue as the ground sponsor.

SportPesa, who also sponsors Everton in the English Premier League, Hull City in the English Championship, Kenyan sides Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards as well as Cape Town City of South Africa, is understood to be paying KES812 million for its first year, KES1 billion for the second season (2020) and a further KES1.2 billion for the 2021 season, according to British website SportBusiness Sponsorship.

The new deal is expected to be announced at the Toronto Motor Show in February.

Though bookmakers are rare in Formula One, Racing Point is not the first team to sign with a betting company, as Red Bull did in December, with W66.com.

The reports follow the 2018 announcement by Formula One Management that it had appointed an official gaming partner.

Interregional Sports Group will offer live betting on F1 sessions.
