Ghana’s interim head coach Otto Addo on Tuesday named a 27-man squad to face Nigeria in the first leg of the Qatar Fifa World Cup playoffs scheduled to take place on Friday.
According to the list, Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has been excluded for serving a ban he received during the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon in January.
AS Roma youngster Felix Afena-Gyan has been handed a debut call-up while Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew has been named in the Black Stars team despite testing positive for Covid-19.
The first leg of the FIFA World Cup playoff between the Black Stars of Ghana and the Super Eagles of Nigeria will take place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Friday, while the return leg is scheduled for the Moshood Abiola Sports Stadium in Nigeria four days later.
The aggregate winner of the two legs will become one of the five teams to represent Africa at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in November.
