Bandari FC denied Kariobangi Sharks a second consecutive appearance at the Caf Confederation Cup by lifting the SportPesa Shield Cup on Sunday.
The Dockers picked from where they left on Saturday after the match was postponed due to heavy rains that made the Kasarani playing surface unplayable.
Benjamin Mosha scored the third goal with his chest in the 80th minute to add to Yame Muama’s brace in the first stanza as Bandari stormed to a 3-1 victory.
This is the first silverware for head coach Benard Mwalala who lost to Kariobangi Sharks in the SportPesa Cup final staged in Tanzania last February.
The victory means that Bandari will fly the country’s flag at the lower tier Caf Confederation Cup as Gor Mahia, the league champions, battle at the top tier Caf Champions League.
Meanwhile, Bandari’s Faruk Shikhalo is expected to jet out out of the country to link up with Harambee Stars players in France.
Shikhalo was left behind by coach Sebastien Migne who landed in Paris with his charges on Friday for a three week training camp.
Captain Wanyama is also expected to travel to France once he leaves Madrid with the rest of Tottenham Hotspur squad that lost to Liverpool in the Uefa Champions League final on Saturday night.
