East Africa will have three representatives at the 2020 Africa Nations Championship set to be hosted by Cameroon between January and February next year.
Uganda joined Tanzania and Rwanda in the list of 15-nations that have qualified for the 6th edition.
Uganda is returning to the bi-annual tournament for the fifth consecutive year since 2011 when it was hosted in Sudan, then South Africa in 2014, with Rwanda hosting the next edition while Morocco hosted the 2018 edition.
Initially, the 2020 edition was handed to Ethiopia but the country’s FA admitted that it was not ready to host the competition.
Tanzania picked their ticket after knocking out Sudan on away goal rule having beaten the host 2-1, same as Rwanda who edged out Ethiopia on 2-1 aggregate after a one-all draw in the second leg.
West African will provide six teams, including hosts Cameroon, Niger, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Mali and Togo who will be making their debut in the tournament reserved only for players plying their trade in their respective domestic leagues.
Togo, the only debutants at the tournament, eliminated African giants Nigeria in the final round of the qualifiers.
From the central Africa Zone are Zimbabwe, Zambia, Democratic Republic of Congo, who are making their return to the championship after missing out on the last edition, and Congo.
Namibia will represent the Southern Zone while Tunisia and defending champions Morocco will carry the the flag of the northern zone.
The draws for the final tournament will be held in December in Cameroon.
