Nairobi’s Upper Hill finally won the elusive Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Associations National Rugby Seven title with a hard fought victory over a strong Laiser Hill in the boys’ final.

Upper Hill beat arch rivals and defending champions Laiser Hill 10-7 in the battle of the ‘hills’ at the Shimo La Tewa High School in Mombasa on Friday.

Upper Hill came from a try down after the Ongata Rongai-based side went ahead through a converted try by Branson Madigi that was well placed between the poles for a seven-nil advantage

Unshaken, Upper Hill responded via unconverted try after Brian Kimani pulled the Nairobi side back into the game as they kicked off a strong comeback under the unforgiving hot Mombasa weather.

Calvin Kaindi added the second try for a 10-7 lead but once again Upper Hill missed the conversion.

Laiser Hill will, however, join the National champions on their trip to the East African Games to be held in Tanzania.

St Peters, who finished third also booked the ticket to the regional school games. The Saints beat Vihiga 19-5 in the third playoffs in a repeat of the Western Region Finals.
