Embattled former Harambee Stars goalkeeper Wycliffe Kasaya has accused his former club Sofapaka FC of sabotage, as his career continues to hang in the balance.

Kasaya has known no peace in the last eight months, his latest trouble coming just a week ago after he was released by Posta Rangers.

The experienced custodian traces his troubles back to his former club Sofapaka who were ordered by Kenyan Premier League Players Status Committee to pay him Sh1.6 million for wrongful dismissal.

Kasaya, a father of one sought the intervention of the local dispute resolution mechanism after Sofapaka wrongfully terminated his contract at the end of the 2018 season, barely six months after penning a two year deal with Batoto Ba Mungu from Mathare United in June 2018.

Sofapaka were found in breach of the contract and were thus ordered to pay close to Sh2 million in damages.

“An order is hereby issued directing the club to pay the player Ksh1.6 million comprising of unpaid salary for October 2018, three months’ salary in lieu of notice and compensation for the balance of the term of the prematurely terminated contract.”

The Elly Kalekwa-owned side were also ordered to release the player.

“A declaration is hereby issued that the player is a free agent competent and at liberty to enter into any contract with any club in the Kenyan Premier League without the need for any release letter from his former club, Sofapaka FC,” the FKF Player Status committee said in a signed statement in January.

But two months down the line, Kasaya now claims that Sofapaka are behind his recent troubles after he was released by Rangers, barely three months after he joined the side in January 2019.

“Apparently someone has threatened my current club bosses and just like that my contract has been terminated reason being I have a pending court case and I don’t have a release letter so basically I am not allowed to play.

“Well, it’s okay, but I just want that person to know that I am determined to fight till the end,” Kasaya took to his official Facebook page to vent his frustrations.

Kasaya has vowed to fight on, adding that players’ contracts must be respected.

“You can frustrate me all you want, but I will not give up. The same God who fought for me in round one will fight for me in round two.”
